Modern Roundabouts

A modern roundabout is a one-way, circular intersection in which traffic flows around a center island. A roundabout eliminates some of the conflicting traffic, such as left turns. Because roundabout traffic enters or exits only through right turns, the occurrence of severe crashes is substantially reduced. Benefits include improved:

  • Safety
  • Mobility
  • Connectivity
  • Frontage road traffic flow

Modern roundabouts are proposed for use in multiple locations throughout the corridor, including Wells Branch Parkway, Howard Lane and 51st Street.
