Phases & Funding
Phases
An individual project development goes through five phases from planning to construction. Public involvement is an important aspect of project development that occurs throughout each of the five phases of a project.
The first two phases of Mobility35 are dedicated to development of an Implementation Plan. This plan serves as a “program of projects": a list of future potential projects to increase mobility along the corridor. The program of projects identifies mobility improvements that can be implemented independently as funding becomes available, but collectively provide substantial benefit. This approach allows some projects to progress through the phases more quickly and utilize funding as it becomes available.
The August 2013 version of the Corridor Implementation Plan for Travis County provides a detailed list of projects. The 2014 update to the plan will address Williamson and Hays counties and provides updates for Travis County.
As a living document, the Implementation Plan will updated periodically in response to public input. Get involved in the process.
Funding
In Travis County alone, I-35 improvements could cost $1.7 – 2.4B in 2020 dollars, depending upon the downtown concept that is ultimately selected. To date, funding has not been identified for Mobility35 projects. Funding Mobility35 will require collaborative action from local, state and federal agencies, citizens, and our legislators.
