Overview

The schematic and environmental process is underway for the reconstruction of I-35 from south of Holly St. to south of Woodland Ave.

Purpose and Need

• Improves substandard mainlane geometry south of Riverside
  
• Improves peak hour intersection operations
  
• Improves safety and mobility for multi-modal traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians
  

End Result

• Reconstructed bridge at Riverside
  
• Reconstructed frontage roads, mainlanes, intersection and bridge
  
• New north and southbound collector-distributor roads under Riverside Dr.
  
• New northbound to southbound U-turn structure at Riverside Drive
  
• Maintain east-west connectivity for all existing modes at Woodland Dr.
  
• Improved ramps

• Project development funded by TxDOT 
• Construction not currently funded
  
• Construction cost estimate: $84 million
  

Schedule

• Finalized schematic and environmental documentation: anticipated February 2016
